"I didn't think it was a new passage of play"

Niklas Stark, Salomon Kalou, Valentino Lazaro and Vladimir Darida give their thoughts following Saturday’s draw at home to Hoffenheim.

Berlin- Hertha’s search for a first win of 2018 goes on after they secured a third successive draw at home to Hoffenheim. Here’s what the Hertha boys had to say after the final whistle.
Salomon Kalou: It wasn’t an easy game for us, and we didn’t have too many chances. We made it too easy for them in the opening period, but we were better in the second hald and put them under pressure. The goal came at a good time for us and the introduction of Vedad Ibisevic really helped us, because he held up the balls that went forward. The next few weeks away at Leverkusen and Bayern will be really tough games, but if we can play like we did in that second half then we can be a match for anyone in the Bundesliga.
Niklas Stark: I think the penalty was unfair, because Nico Schulz came from back off the pitch, so I didn’t think it was a new passage of play. I wanted to take the ball on and get rid of it. Wgen we’re building up the play and I receive the ball like I did from the opponent then it must also be offside. I first saw him when he went past me, and so that is obviously annoying. All that’s missing from us at the moment is that critical strike. We were closer to the goal towards the end and we were in our reserves. We defended higher and took some risks, but that seemed to work for us. We just needed that ounce of luck towards the end.
Vladimir Darida: I’m glad to have played the 90 minutes. It’s just a shame we couldn’t get the three points with it. Both teams had their chances so the draw is probably deserved. But we’ve got to keep running and make more room for each other. Those 3-on-2s, like we had in the final minute of the match will be practiced on Monday. I just lacked that little bit of energy and I didn’t get enough on the pass.
Valentino Lazaro: Before the game we said we wanted to press them with their game and force them into mistakes. We did that really well until we went behind and had more chances in the opening 45 to take the lead, so you could say the three points were there for the taking today. We lacked that bit of luck and it’s left us a little bit frustrated that we couldn’t get that home win we all really wanted
