On 25th July 2017, Hertha BSC turns 125 years old. Several festivities are planned by the club to celebrate this anniversary. Aside from the “Hauptstadtfußball” exhibition that will be showcased at the Berliner Stadtmuseum, another big event has just been confirmed. In the early evening of 29th July 2017, Hertha will welcome Liverpool to the Olympiastadion, with the English giants also celebrating their 125th anniversary this year. The match will be held under the motto “Celebrating football since 1892”.
“Not only does this match fit perfectly into our preparations for the upcoming season, but it should also be an unforgettable day for us and especially our fans. Hertha BSC is the oldest club in the Bundesliga and that is exactly what we want to celebrate with our members and fans,” said Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz, emphasising the significance of this year’s milestone anniversary.
“It will be a great event for all of Hertha and a great test against an top international team,” commented head coach Pál Dárdai. The visitors from Anfield currently sit fourth in the Premier League table and require a win in the season finale to reach at least the Champions League qualifying stages.
