Berlin- While the majority of Berlin spent May 1st enjoying the bank holiday under sunny skies in the capital, the boys at Hertha Berlin were beginning their preparations for the final away game of 2017/18.
“I wanted to prepare the boys for Wednesday, because that will be an intensive session, where we will work on our duels,” said Pal Dardai, who had given his side Monday off.
The session saw a return to the training pitch for Maxi Mittelstädt. “I am pleased to have him back, it went very well for him,” said a satisfied Dardai. Goalkeepers Thomas Kraft and Jonathan Klinsmann undertook an individual programme on Tuesday afternoon, while Valentino Lazaro only took part in the opening part of the session after picking up a knock against Augsburg at the weekend.
Youngsters Palko Dardai, Maurice Covic and Jordan Torunarigha, who all played for Hertha youth teams on Sunday, only trained lightly and will be back with the squad on Wednesday.
The Hertha lads will be out training twice on Wednesday (1000 and 1500 CEST), while Thursday and Friday will see open sessions take place at Schenckendorffplatz. The penultimate game of the the 2017/18 campaign takes place on Saturday at 1530 against Hannover 96 and Dardai will wait until the end of the week to choose who in Blue and White will make the trip.
“We’ll analyse Hannover and then decide who we’re taking.” There are still six points to fight for this season, and Hertha want to come home with three of those on Saturday evening.
