Mittelstädt to stay at Hertha

Hertha BSC have extended the contract of the home-grown left-back.

Berlin – Hertha BSC announced the extension of Maximilian Mittelstädt's contract ahead of schedule on Friday (07/07/17). "Maxi is a home-grown player who has made the jump to first team football at Hertha. He is a symbol of our philosophy which is to bring young players through from our academy. We're very pleased with his development and we're certain that he'll bring us a lot of joy in the next few years," said sporting director Michael Preetz on the 20-year-old's contract extension. "I'm very pleased with the trust that the club has shown in me. It was always my dream to play professional football for Hertha. I will continue to work hard in order to give this club and these fans the most success possible," said the Berlin-born youngster. 

Maximilian Mittelstädt joined Hertha BSC in 2012.

Mittelstädt joined Hertha from Hertha 03 Zehlendorf in 2012 and has played for the Blue-Whites at every age level since then. He signed his first professional contract with the 'Old Lady' in 2015 and has trained with the first team ever since. He made his first team debut in March 2016 in a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. He convinced in his first start for Hertha just a month later against Bayern Munich. He made twelve Bundesliga appearances and one in the DFB Pokal last season. The German represented his country at this year's U20 World Cup and has played a total of 15 Bundesliga games for Hertha, seven from the start, and has notched two assists.
