Hertha Player of the Season voting 2017/18

Voting time! Who was your stand out Hertha player from 2017/18? Cast your vote from between now until Tuesday 12 June.

Berlin- “Not bad, but not completely satisfactory.”: That was the end-of-season verdict given by Michael Preetz. The whole club was left slightly disappointed by the early elimination from the Europam League and DFB-Pokal, while chances to bridge the gap to the top placings in the league were frustratingly missed by Pal Dardai’s side throughout the course of 2017/18. In the end, a challenging season which saw Hertha fight on three fronts ended with a tenth-place finish in the Bundesliga. There is one overriding conclusion from last season, however, and that is that the coaching staff and players have laid down an impressive foundation to build on in the future!
A few homegrown talents were also given the opportunity, and their first few steps in first team football also give hope of a successful future. The new signings also bedded themselves in well and quickly developed to find their best form for the Blue and White shirt.
But which player stood out the most in 2017/18? Was it new boy Karim Rekik, who kept several opponents quiet with his robust tackling? Perhaps it was top goalscorer Salomon Kalou, who’s 12 strikes came to Hertha’s rescue on several occasions? Marvin Plattenhardt got himself to the brink of a World Cup place with Germany, or perhaps youngster Arne Maier, who established himself as a regular in the Hertha midfield while still only a teenager, will get your vote? Valentino Lazaro scared defences all year long with his dribbling and pace, while Davie Selke scored ten Bundesliga goals in his first season in the capital despite missing the first couple of months of the season. All those would be worthy winners, but perhaps you have someone else in mind?
