Florian Baak leaves Hertha BSC

The Hertha academy graduate will join Swiss second-division side FC Winterthur with immediate effect.

Florian Baak has left Hertha BSC U23s and joined FC Winterthur in the Swiss Challenge League, the second highest tier of football in Switzerland. The 21-year-old defender joined Hertha aged just six years old and the native Berliner was a part of the team that won the German U19s Championship in the 2017/18 season, his greatest success to date. Baak made his Bundesliga debut on the 31st matchday of the 2016/17 against Werder Bremen, and made two further appearances following that. Managing director Michael Preetz said of the move: “We wish Flo all the best for the next step in his career and for his continuing development. He featured for every age group in our youth set-up and was part of the successful U19s team that won the German U19 Championship two years ago.”

Baak has made seven appearances for Hertha U23s this season and has played a total of 28 games for Germany’s youth teams, scoring three goals.
