Back on the training ground!

On Tuesday (05/11/19), the training week began for the Herthaner ahead of this weekend’s home fixture against RB Leipzig. There is just one clear aim heading in to this one – win.

The Herthaner finally returned to the Schenkendorffplatz on Tuesday (05/11/19) after a slight delay. Before the start of the training week, Ante Covic had once again delivered a short, clear message in the dressing room after the loss in the derby. "We've had a look at where we went wrong and we’ve already begun working on those things, but the fact is we didn’t play how we know we can, we were not brave enough," said the coach in the press conference after the match.

In approximately 80 minutes of training, spectators saw a focused working team. "The boys were very eager and didn’t give anything away. They used the experience to improve their game, after holding up the mirror to themselves and they know now that we should have performed much better there and we want to put it right next time out.” The coach isn’t ruling out some personnel changes for the next game in order to make that happen – the substitutes smell their chance. "Those who haven’t played much recently really pushed themselves in training, so it’s possible that there could be some changes,” said Covic.

Trio train individually

Not on the training pitch was Per Skjelbred, the Norwegian worked individually with athletics trainer Hendrik Vieth. "Per was having treatment, he should return to the pitch Wednesday or Thursday," Covic said. In addition to Skjelbred Marko Grujic and Vladimir Darida were also missing - the two midfielders stayed in the dressing room so as not to overwork them. "Both will come back on Wednesday," confirmed the Berlin coach. In addition, the squad was still missing the injured Arne Maier and Sidney Friede, who are currently waiting to return to action.

Clear goal: "Show them how we can play!"

Intervention is the keyword: After the unsatisfactory result last weekend, Hertha BSC want to use their good preparation in the week to try and get a positive result against RB Leipzig on Saturday (09/11/19). "We are now looking ahead to Leipzig, we will of course look at the opponent’s game, but more importantly, we want to get back to playing our way and show them what we can do," said Covic. On Wednesday, the Herthaner completed a double training session - the first at 10:00 CET will be public. On Thursday, the Blue and Whites will train in front of the cameras before the final training session of the week takes place on Friday at 17:00 CET. On Saturday (09/11/19) it will be back to the Olympiastadion to try and pick up some Bundesliga points (15:30 CET)!
