Schladming – Hertha won their first training camp friendly in Schladming after a dominant display against Austrian second division side FC Liefering. The Blue-Whites took the lead after just nine minutes. Ondrej Duda chipped the ball through to Mathew Leckie, who kept his cool and slotted it past Daniel Antosch. The first half was a relatively balance affair, yet Hertha still controlled possession. In the 33rd minute, Pál Dárdai’s team doubled their advantage. Maximilian Mittelstädt put in a terrific cross from the left wing, which Leckie hammered home with his head. Liefering then grabbed one back before half time as Van der Werff nodded a corner into the Hertha net.
Baak bangs in a header
Dárdai brought on fresh legs for the second half. Only keeper Rune Jarstein played the full 90. Hertha remained the dominant side and found the net twice more. Valentino Lazaro’s shot was saved by Antosch (60’), yet he soon found Florian Baak with a free kick, who headed home (60’). The Austrians suffered a bit of bad luck to round off the affair. Shortly before the final whistle, Marvin Plattenhardt swung a dangerous ball into the box, which a Liefering defender unfortunately directed into his own net (81’). The Berliners saw off the final few minutes and secured a 4-1 victory. “Compliments to the lads. We trained really hard this morning, so they put a real shift in. Our goals were no piece of luck. They were well executed moves”, asserted a delighted Dárdai after the match.
The next double shift is set for Thursday (07.08.), when the Blue-Whites will train at 10:00 and 16:00 CEST.
