It was easy to sense the relief in the Mixed Zone after the 3-1 victory over VfB Stuttgart at the Olympiastadion. After seven winless games, the Blue-Whites finally got three points. “That was very important, we were desperate for the three points and we are happy that we could gift the fans with a victory. They deserve it,” said a happy Vedad Ibišević.
Salomon Kalou: This victory feels very good. At the end of the season, it is important that we win games. For our confidence, an eye on next season and for our fans, it is very good that we win. Of course it is also a victory for the coach. After four years, it is important that we give him a good send off and the best way to do that is by winning games. Vedad opened the scoring for us and that was key to the victory. We want to finish the next two games with wins too.
Vedad Ibišević: We scored at last today and that was something we had failed to do in recent games. The coach already told us that once we score one, the goals will flow afterwards. That was very important, we were desperate for the three points and we are happy that we could gift the fans with a victory. They deserve it!
Marko Grujić: I am happy with the win. I started on the bench today because I wasn’t fully fit. That’s okay and I am very happy that the team could finally get three points again! There are still two games left and I hope that we can win them too. We want to get as many points as possible.
Karim Rekik: After the performance in Frankfurt we had a good feeling coming into today’s game, because we played well against Eintracht - in my opinion, we deserved to win there. Against Stuttgart we attacked from the first minute. I didn’t actually notice in the game that the ball hit my hand. If that was the case, then we got lucky.
Javairô Dilrosun: It feels great to have won again. In the last two games we picked up two draws and even deserved more in Frankfurt. Today we finally got all three points and we can build on that. Shortly after coming on I had the ball at my feet and saw the space in front of me. I beat my man and then Salomon put it in the net.
Maximilian Mittelstädt: In the past few weeks we’ve struggled and then drew the last two games. We knew we could win today. I never felt at any point that we had the game in our hands. What we’ve been lacking recently was there again today. It was a deserved victory. It is nice that we have finally won again and we can go into the next games with confidence. I’m very pleased for Vedad – he has a lot of quality going forwards and is an important player for us.
