The Herthaner had every reason to be satisfied when they answered the journalists' questions in the mixed zone of the Müngersdorfer Stadion on Sunday evening. A few minutes earlier, Hertha had defeated 1. FC Cologne 4-0 to grab their first away win of the season and even better, produced their first clean sheet of the 2019/20 season, "I am very happy about my goal, and as a defender, of course, that we kept a clean sheet," said a lucky Dedryck Boyata, who was again very convincing in the center of defence whilst also scoring the header that made it 4-0. We summarised all reactions.
Vladimir Darida: As a number ten I should always be testing a Cologne center back and try to disrupt their flow – I think I did that well today. We kept finding gaps and won the ball back in good positions. About the red card, I was hit on the shin and therefore I feel that the sending off was justified. We took advantage of their ten men, we were focused until the end and we got the win.
Dedryck Boyata: We can be very satisfied, everyone put in a good performance. I am very happy about my goal, and as a defender, of course, that we kept a clean sheet. I've been working very hard lately and I feel like I can play even better in the future – I haven’t reached my limit yet!
Niklas Stark: We stood strong and took advantage of our superior numbers. We played well in the second half, I'm proud of the team! We are very happy to have won twice in a row and to have finally kept a clean sheet. Nevertheless, we have to keep our heads now and look ahead to the future. We must continue to work on what makes us strong.
Lukas Klünter: A victory in your hometown is always special, even if my heart bleeds a bit when I see the 'Effzeh' in this situation. The victory was enormously important for us; we were under a bit of pressure, just like Cologne. It felt like a can opener turning at first, but we grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck after a difficult first 15 minutes and then we acted very professionally. Everyone feels like this game can be a turning point in our season. We’re going to ride this wave all the way in to next week now, refuel, and then head in to the game against Düsseldorf with a lot of confidence!
Javairo Dilrosun: I am very happy with my goal. Last time I played well, but without the support of the team I would never have made it. I want to maintain my performance level throughout the season and contribute as many goals and assists as I can. This victory is very important for us and we’ll take a lot confidence in to the game against Düsseldorf.
Vedad Ibisevic: It’s not common to score directly after a substitution. But I'm always keen on scoring goals, making my way - and sometimes you're lucky enough to get the balls in as well as they did this time. Of course it's nice for me, but more important for the team. We've been struggling in the last few games. A young team like ours is not so easily put away - that's what you saw today. The past few games have done us good and have put us back on track. Of course we will have to continue working, we're not perfect, although it was a deserved victory against Cologne. It won’t be easy against Düsseldorf though so we have to keep our concentration.
