Bad news for Hertha BSC concerning Vladimir Darida: Upon closer examination, it was determined that the midfield man will be out of action for several weeks, ruling him out of the start of the Bundesliga season. During the first pre-season friendly in Stahnsdorf at the beginning of July, Darida twisted his knee in a fifty-fifty challenge which led to bone marrow edema. Since reduced strain did not achieve the desired results, he will now sit out of training completely for a while.
The 27-year-old will return to training as soon as reduce of the edema has been diagnosed. "It’s a shame I have to sit out for longer. I had hoped that it would improve much quicker, but I kept experiencing pains. Despite my frustration now, I have to stay calm – I would like to be back with the team as soon as possible," said the Czech international. Pál Dárdai was also unhappy with the news: "This is a tough loss – Vladi is an important and experienced player who will be missed in the opening games of the season. I thought it might be okay, because he’s the kind of player that can withstand a lot, but then he told us that the reduced strain didn’t help and he wasn’t pain-free. Vladi is a fighter though, and I hope he returns soon," said the coach.
