Berlin Derby without fans

Both the home game against FC Augsburg and the Berlin Derby with 1. FC Union Berlin will be played behind closed doors due to the recent outbreak of Coronavirus.

After it was announced that this weekend’s game with TSG Hoffenheim is to be played behind closed doors, further restrictions have now been implemented for the home games in Berlin with FC Augsburg and 1. FC Union Berlin, both of which will now be played behind closed doors. The Department of Health and the relevant authorities agreed on Wednesday that no gatherings of more than 1000 people should take place to help prevent the spread of the virus.

“We have to accept the decision for the game to be played without any fans as this is a serious issue. The topic will continue to be discussed over the coming weeks, but if we have the chance to slow down the spread of the virus, then there’s no discussion to be had,” said Michael Preetz.

We will inform fans of what will happen with ticket refunds for the game over the coming week.
