”That’s what football is all about!”

The post-match reaction to Hertha’s 4-3 victory in Augsburg on Saturday (11/05/19).

Hertha’s players reacted to a crazy match in Augsburg and were all in agreement after the game. “For everyone it was important to get another win – it is what we’ve been working on all week,” said Marvin Plattenhardt. Marko Grujić saw the late success as proof of a successful turnaround. “We showed a lot of character to come from behind three times. It shows that we can overcome our negative spells together. Now we have a tough task ahead of us when we play Leverkusen, but I am convinced that we can win the game,” said the midfielder. Herthabsc.de has all the post match reaction.

Vedad Ibišević: That’s what football is all about! Games like that only happen when there is no pressure on the game and both sides are purely playing for honour, and we ended the happier team today. It was really fun! In the first 20 minutes, we weren’t fully there, but controlled the game after that. Unfortunately we conceded simple goals. However, we always came back and therefore you can’t question our character. It wasn’t necessarily a stonewall penalty at the end, but I feel we could have had one in the first half.

Marvin Plattenhart: It was extremely important for us all to get another victory, as we worked really hard all week. The fans were also class. The whole team gave there all and the substitutes also put in a shift and so everyone deserves praise! For my goal, I saw that many balls were going to the back post and so I was ready to score.

Marko Grujić: The game was very important for us and we wanted to win no matter what and take the points home with us. We showed a lot of character by coming back from behind three times and we were also able to score the winner. That shows that our negative run is behind us. Now, we wait to play another big game, this time against Leverkusen and I am convinced that we can win this game! We want to end the season on a high.

Ondrej Duda: That was a very crazy game. Respect to the team and how we came back from behind and won. Now we want to win the last game of the season against Leverkusen. It is the last game for our head coach and Fabian Lustenberger and so I hope we can send them off with a win.

Salomon Kalou: It was like an English cup game. Both teams wanted to win, both teams went on the offensive. It was a superb afternoon for the fans. We played well and wanted to win no matter what. I didn’t see our penalty properly but the ref was correct. It was talked about a lot but  I took my time and I am happy that I could make it 4-3. Now we want to win our last home game a well – for our fans and so we can go into the summer break feeling good. A home victory would be the best way to say ‘goodbye’ to our head coach.
