Berlin/Sotschi – After the 1-0 defeat to Mexico in their World Cup opener, Germany were under serious pressure in their second game against Sweden. A win was required to have a real chance of reaching the last 16. Joachim Löw’s side needed a last gasp winner to seal a 2-1 win as Hertha’s Marvin Plattenhardt watched on from the bench. Jonas Hector returned to the starting XI in his place after recovering from illness which ruled him out of the Mexico clash. Löw’s team will now play South Korea to try and get into the last 16 next Wednesday.
