Valentino Lazaro scored a last-minute winner for Austria in their 2-1 win over Northern Ireland in the last Nations League group game. Corry Evans of Blackburn Rovers had levelled things up before Lazaro scored a brilliant goal to pinch the win in added time. “The goal was very special for me. I am really pleased to have helped the team and end the year on a high,” explained Lazaro after the game. “Everyone fought for each other even if we couldn’t get a rhythm going. I am grateful that the manager had the faith in me to keep me on until the end and I could make up for a poor performance with that goal!” Austria confirmed a second-place finish in Nations League Group B3 with the three points.
Dennis Jastrzembski also ended the last international break of the year with a win. Germany U19s won their last game of the four-nation tournament 7-0 against Armenia. Jastrzembski was subbed on at half time with the game basically over as a contest and he set up the third goal shortly after the break. Two more Hertha players could feature for their nations in the next few days as Vladimir Darida and Czech Republic come up against Solvakia featuring Peter Pekarik and Ondrej Duda.
