Three Hertha players had reasons to be cheerful after the first round of international matches of the 2019/20 season that took place on Tuesday evening (10.09.19).While Germany currently focuses on qualifying for the 2020 European Championship, Mathew Leckie and the Australia national team have already begun their qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup. To kick off their campaign, the “Socceroos” beat Kuwait in a 3-0 win. Leckie captained his team and scored the first two goals before being substituted in the 69th minute.
Redan gets assist on his debut
Vladimir Darida also led the Czechia team to a 3-0 win, as the playmaker scored a stoppage-time penalty. Finally, Daishawn Redan had every reason to celebrate, as the Dutch 18-year-old celebrated making his U21 debut against Cyprus. In the 5-1 victory delivered by the “Jong Oranje", Redan came on in the 72nd minute with the score at 3-1 and in the 86th minute set up Dani de Wit to make the score 4-1.
Leckie, Daran and Darida are expected to return to Berlin on Wednesday and then join up with the rest of the squad in team training on Thursday (12.09.19).
