Lazaro and Austria pick up three points

Friendly victory for Slovakia, Turkey U21s held to draw.

On Friday evening (07/06), a number of Hertha players had international fixtures with their respective national teams on their agenda. Only Valentino Lazaro saw some action as he started Austria’s 1-0 EURO 2020 qualifying victory over Slovenia. In the eyes of Austria head coach Franco Doda, it was a highly-deserved victory, even though the players had to work hard for it. With Lazaro in the starting XI, Austria put pressure on Slovenia and had many efforts on goal, which kept Jan Oblak busy. The Herthaner also had a long-range effort on goal but it was to no avail. The match winner was Guido Burgstaller who scored in the 74th minute, only a minute after he came on.

Muhammed Kirprit was not in the Turkey U21 squad as they took on Albania in a U21 qualifying game (2-2). Ondrej Duda and Peter Pekarik were both on the bench for Slovakia during their friendly against Jordan. The game ended 5-1 to Slovakia.

On Saturday afternoon, Germany and Niklas Stark will take on Belarus. Niklas Stark could make his debut for the national team.
