Berlin/Stavanger – 2019 began with a bang for Rune Jarstein as he received a wonderful award for his strong performances! The goalkeeper won the “Golden Ball” from NFF, the Norwegian FA, for the first time in his career at the National Sporting Gala in Stavanger on Saturday evening (5th January). The prize is awarded yearly in Norway and carries exceptional prestige. “Of course I’m very proud and I’m incredibly delighted to have received this award,” says the 34-year-old, who flew to his home country for the event.
The keeper, who has been under contract at Hertha since January 2014, impressed in the first half of the current season yet again. Jarstein has managed to keep five clean sheets in his 16 Bundesliga appearances over the current season and has shone with his consistent performances, radiating confidence to the players in front of him. The Norwegian has backed up these solid performances with displays for his country, with whom he won group 3 of the UEFA Nations League, keeping four clean sheets across six matches. Now Jarstein is being recognised for his fantastic displays between the sticks.
