Squad planning for next season is underway. After sporting director Michael Preetz confirmed the contract extensions of Vedad Ibišević, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Florian Baak and Dennis Jastrzembski, and the signing of Dedryck Boyata at the general meeting on Sunday, the first departures have now been announced. Julius Kade and Jonathan Klinsmann will both play for new clubs in the 2019/20 season.
Kade received a professional contract from the club on the 1st July 2017. The midfielder had already made his Bundesliga debut on the 5th April that same year, coming on for Salomon Kalou in the 81st minute against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Kade, who has been a part of the Hertha set-up since 2007, is the club’s second-youngest Bundesliga appearance maker. All in all, Kade made 78 appearances at U17, U19 U23 and first-team level. His best moment came in the summer of 2018, when he was crowned a German A-Jugend league champion.
Klinsmann joined Hertha in summer 2017 from the University of Carolina, Berkeley. The 22-year-old made one appearance for the first-team, playing in December 2017 against Östersund in the Europa League. The young American keeper also made 24 appearances for the U23s, and was called up for the USA senior team for the first time in November of last year.Thank you, Julius and Jonathan!
