After having the Monday, the Hertha players returned to the training pitch on Tuesday morning, but it was no regular day at the office: On the agenda for the rest of the day was the annual DFL Media Days visit. Ante Čović, the coaches and the 32-man squad were stationed at various points around the Olympiastadion and at Schenckendorffplatz for a series of photo shoots. The material is to be used by the DFL for national and international Bundesliga marketing purposes. Whether it involved pushing a shopping trolley through the changing rooms, donning a Santa hat or scoring in a mini-goal on the training pitch, the players’ and coaches’ talent for acting put to the test. Our Herthaner welcomed the change of activity and made the most of the event.
Nevertheless, it goes without saying that the lads prefer working with the ball at their feet – and that’s exactly what they’ll be doing over the coming days. On Wednesday morning, the Old Lady is off to Austria for another training camp, this time in Stegersbach until 1st August. With two training sessions a day and two friendlies against Fenerbahçe (25th July, 17:30 CEST) and West Ham United (31st July, 18:00 CEST), the team will apply the finishing touches to their pre-season preparation.
