The second personnel decision at Hertha BSC in 2021 has been finalised: Omar Rekik is leaving the Old Lady in the last possible transfer window before the end of his contract and will now play for Arsenal’s U23s. The two clubs’ executives reached an agreement on Thursday, 7th January. The now 19-year-old defender joined the capital city club from Marseille in summer 2017 with his brother Karim, who, after more than three years with the club, joined Sevilla last October. Omar went on to play for the U17s, U19s and U23s. In the current interrupted Regionalliga season, the right-footer has played eight games for Andreas Neudendorf’s team, scoring one goal and setting one up. Last season, the centre-back was in Hertha’s first time Bundesliga squad three times, but did not make an appearance.
