“Painful learning process”

After their loss in Bremen, Hertha BSC will now play Bayern at home. Pál Dárdai spoke to the media.

A day after Hertha’s first loss of the season, Pál Dárdai faced the media ahead of their game against Bayern Munich on Friday evening (28.09.18). Whilst the players who played in Bremen trained lightly today, the rest of the squad completed a training session at Schenckendorff.

Pál Dárdai spoke about...

...the loss in Bremen: Statistically the game was quite equal, we actually had better tacking stats. However, we weren’t as good on the ball as we have been in recent weeks. As a result, we gifted them three goals. I always say it is a ‘learning process’, but this time it was especially painful as we have been good recently. We know that if we can work the ball around well. I still need another day to fully analyse the match.

...Marko Grujic’s absence: We didn’t deal with his injury as well as we thought we had. We need to find a solution to this problem as quick as possible so we can continue to develop our style of play, which we had to change when playing against Werder.

...penalty problems: It is like we are cursed. Every game so far we have conceded a penalty and a player has got injured. It is simply daft. We will probably concede another one on Friday (smirks).

...Karim Rekik’s comeback: It took him a bit of time to get back into the swing of things but he played well. Normally he would have firstly played in the U23s and then got back into the first team. At the end he seemed to be fine and injury free which is good.

...Javairo Dilrosun: Javairo at the start of the season played very well in the U23s. We spoke together about his strengths and his future. He played well in the game against Viktoria and so we promoted him to the first team. Nevertheless he has to be careful. The first hour in Bremen, he had a problem as he only tried using his left foot. If he can vary up his game, then he will have a very big future ahead of him.

...the home game against Bayern: The anticipation for the game is huge. We know that half the city is full of Bayern fans and the other half are Hertha fans. No matter who scores, there will be celebrations. It would be nice if we score the first goal or even win for the first time in years.
