Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz commits his future to the club

Club sporting director Michael Preetz has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club for an additional three years.

Hertha BSC’s board of directors and the chair of the club have agreed to extent Michael’s contract for an additional three years from 30th June 2019. “After good discussions with Michael Preetz together with the club’s chair and board of directors, we are pleased to announce that that our cooperation will continue from next summer for at least three more years,” commented club president Werner Gegenbauer. He added: “This allows Hertha BSC to continue the positive development seen at the club in recent years.”

Preetz played for the Blue-Whites between 1996 and 2003, leading the club as captain in the Champions League. Preetz, born in Düsseldorf, is also Hertha’s record goalscorer in the German top flight with 84 Bundesliga goals whilst additionally earning seven caps for Germany. The 51 year old has been responsible for the sporting side of the club since 2009 and was thrilled to learn about his extended contract as sporting director of the club. “Hertha BSC is my club. I have experienced every high and low during my 22 years at the club,” says Preetz who has formulated clear intensions for the future. “In recent years, we have been able to take a successful path both financially and on the pitch. However as a club from the capital, our intensions are to continue this development. We will continue to work hard in the forthcoming years to sustain our success.”
