„Karim has so much international experience despite being only 22-years-old. We are very convinced by his potential and believe he will only get better here at Hertha,” exclaimed Michael Preetz,
„Hertha is a very big and very ambitious club. That suits me, and I want to give everything I can to achieve a lot with this club,” said the latest edition to the Olympiastadion.

Rekik spent his junior years at Feyenoord before moving to Manchester City at the age of just 17. The Manchester club used Rekik mainly in its youth setup before loaning him out for spells at Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers. He played one Premier League match for the Citizens and 13 games in the Championship for his loan clubs.
His next loan stop at PSV Eindhoven saw him breakthrough. After 25 appearance in 2012/13 he helped his side to finish third in the Eredivisie. Next season saw him move up a gear again by playing 29 games and helping his side to the Dutch title. He also made his national debut in the season. He was sold to Marseille in 2015 from Manchester City, where he made 48 appearances in two seasons. He has also played 19 games in Europe combined for PSV and Marseille.
