Sidney Friede has been a part of the various teams in the Hertha BSC academy since 2012, signing his first professional contract with the club in January 2018. After spending half a year on loan at Belgian side Royal Excel Mouscron, the midfielder rejoined the squad for this season. However, the 21-year-old has now left the club and will immediately join up with SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the second division. “We would like to thank Sidney for his all efforts at this club and wish him the best of luck with all his future sporting endeavours,” said sporting director Michael Preetz.
Friede joined the club as a 14 year old, where he scored six goals in 30 appearances for the U17s, before going on to grab 17 goals and 14 assists in 52 games for the U19 side. He also went on to make 47 appearances for the U23 team (five goals, four assists) in the Regionalliga Ost. Hertha’s number 26 made it into the first team squad twice this season, but was yet to make an appearance.
