Stahnsdorf - Hertha’s first friendly of the 2018/19 preseason was comfortable for the Bundesliga side, as they came away from the game as 7-0 winners against RSV Eintracht Stahnsdorf.
In hot temparatures and on a bumpy playing surface, Hertha exerted their dominance from the outset. Vladimir Darida scored their first in the sixth minute, after some lovely build-up play courtesy of Palko Dárdai. A cross from Jastrzembski was soon converted by Vedad Ibisevic to double the lead (19’), before the captain added his second and his team’s third shortly after (29’). Ondrej Duda’s shot from distance then found itself into the back of the net almost directly after the restart (30’), before youngster Dennis Jastrzembski got the fifth with a perfectly placed shot into the right-hand corner (45’). “We’re very happy that we have David. He works very hard and has a lot of potential,” praised Pál Dárdai. Forward Julian Rauch had the best of the chances for Stahnsdorf, but couldn’t convert.
Aside from goalkeeper Dennis Smarsch, Dárdai switched over his entire team at half time. The second half was just as full of chances as the first. In the 53rd minute, Davie Selke headed in another for Hertha. Following that, Stahnsdorf’s keeper Levin Babernitz was exemplary, keeping out attempts from Selke (57’), Salamon Kalou (61’) as well as Valentino Lazaro (68’). Arne Maier scored Hertha’s final goal, who poked home his side’s seventh after some nice play from Selke. “It’s always good to win your first game. I’m happy with how we played, because we’ve already had a few tough training session to this point,” said Dárdai and continued: “The whole team has trained well this week. We played especially well in the first half, after that we looked a bit tired.”
