"We need to be alert and play our own game!"

Bruno Labbadia and Michael Preetz spoke in Thursday’s (17/09/20) press conference about team news, as well as the key to a good start to the new season in Bremen.

Just days ahead of the start of the new season, the focus was on player news. What would the line up be for the first game? Is there any new transfer news? The first question of the press conference was focused on the newest member of the squad: Jhon Córdoba. “I don’t want to make any comment on whether it makes sense for him to be involved in the game against Werder. However, he’s been very focussed and eager - I’m pleased,” said head coach Labbadia, who also provided good news about the team’s defence. “Dedryck Boyata has made a good impression, and I think he’s ready for the game.” Labbadia is expecting an exciting clash. “Werder have worked on their organisation in pre-season and have good footballers, so we need to get it right tactically and be alert, while at the same time making sure that we play our own game.”
Hertha fans will be looking for an instant reaction after last week’s disappointing result. “We are pleased that the league games are back,” explained Michael Preetz. “We had a bad start to the season last week and showed areas of weakness, which we’ve been working on this week. We’ve made improvements in this regard and are confident of giving a better showing of ourselves and having a successful day in Bremen.”
