Confidence and team spirit are the foundations of success on the football pitch. Despite the tough sporting circumstances at the moment, Hertha’s players have shown both of these qualities in good performances against tough opponents following matches against in-form Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Bayern. “We've pressed ahead and covered everything we had to in training this week, despite the weather. We're on track for Saturday’s game and feel that we're tactically prepared,” emphasised Pál Dárdai.
Unchanged squad situation
Hertha’s coach will have to do without the injured Dedryck Boyata, Jhon Córdoba, Javairô Dilrosun, Marvin Plattenhardt and Jordan Torunarigha for the game against VfB. Dárdai and his team nevertheless intend to approach the game against the newly promoted side with courage, while treating Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team with the respect they deserve. “Stuttgart are an unpleasant team to play against because of their pressing. It’ll be a tough game but every team has weaknesses and it's a case of identifying and exploiting them,” explained the Hungarian, who continued on to name what in his view will be the decisive factors in the clash. “We have to keep concentrating defensively as we did against FC Bayern, and make sure they don’t have space to play their game. We need to discipline, desire, and focus when we defend. Then we can be successful,” concluded Dárdai.
